Welcome to the Magnolia Community Wiki

This wiki is a community effort. This means that you are allowed to change anything you see, add comments or add new pages. That said, we do have some....

Ground rules

License and Copyright

Please make sure you read and understand License and Copyright before you contribute.

Keep content relevant

This is the Magnolia CMS wiki, and while we love hearing about suggestions for great new pizza toppings etc., we limit the scope of this particular wiki to Magnolia CMS. By all means include scripts, templates, installation instructions, and anything else that might prove useful for someone using Magnolia CMS.

Attachments

This one is worth a warning...

We cannot be made responsible for the contents of an attachment. They could destroy your machine. Please be careful what you upload and download.

Search first, add later

If you are about to add a page, good practice is to check to see if the page (or a similar page) already exists. Use the search option in the top right corner of the page. When you are sure that the topic has not been covered off, feel free to add a page or comment.

Remember:

  • Duplication of information in different locations across the wiki can lead to confusion; not to mention difficulties in keeping information up to date.
  • Repeating things in different places on the wiki makes it hard to know what is correct; furthermore, information might end up being updated in one location and not in the other.
  • Multiple instances of very similar content stored on different pages on the wiki makes it hard to ensure consistency of content and to keep track of things.

Add here, ask on the forum

This is a place to share knowledge and ideas. Please use the forum for questions in relation to Magnolia CMS. Specific questions about specific topics in the wiki are welcome in the comments section for that topic.

Use existing categories

We have grouped this wiki space into the following top level categories. Whenever you add a a page, please do so below these top level pages. First select your preferred parent page and then add a child page there. You can set the parent page on any page in the edit dialog, right below the page title (click on the small EDIT button after the Location path). Again, remember the search first, add later rule.

Refer to 'Magnolia CMS Version X'

Magnolia CMS is currently at version 4.5. If you are writing about Magnolia CMS, please mention which version - at least once! It could save someone (probably you!) a lot of time. Note - Magnolia CMS 5 is on the way..
