This issue exists on macOS Catalina which currently has issues with Java. Attempting to run Magnolia in an IDE will lead to fatal crashes.
Performing these steps will also work on Mohave Mojave even though it does not suffer from the issue.
From the command line, install nvm.

- Create a copy of your current .bash_profile to create .zprofile.
In the file .zprofile, add the following code before:
